[prMac.com] Harrogate, UK - Gedgers today announced that within days of the release of their new iPhone application PhotoFame, one customer has been rewarded with $140 for his snap of a passing gold plated Ferrari in Cannes along with headlines in the UK's Daily Star & Scotland Daily Record. PhotoFame is a simple and unique app that enables users to take or attach a photo and then fire the image off to the agency. PhotoFame is the first iPhone application to partner with a news/picture agency to give customers a chance to earn money from their photo.
Franck Dos Santo-Queyroi had recently downloaded PhotoFame from the iTunes App Store. When a gold plated Ferrari drove past he was able to pull out his iPhone, snap the passing supercar and fire it off to international photo-agency SWNS within seconds.
Franck explained; "I couldn't believe it when I first saw this gold Ferrari car passing by - I'd downloaded PhotoFame the day before which is a really simple application that lets you easily take and send your photo off to an international photoagency. I was thrilled when I was offered money - and headlines for my photo!"
Since Gedgers launched PhotoFame on Sunday 23rd August 2009, hundreds of savvy iPhone users have downloaded the app. Brainchild of renowned photographer and adventurer Mark Humpage, PhotoFame partners with leading photo agency SWNS to give iPhone users the chance to turn their snaps to cash.
Franck believes he is the first of many who will benefit from PhotoFame and plans to look out for more golden opportunities to use the app in the future. "The application has turned out to be a brilliant investment. I would recommend it to anyone." Franck said.
Mark Humpage said: "This is the proof that PhotoFame really works - we are very excited at the response we've had from our customers and plan to set up a gallery of successfully submitted pictures as they grow in number."
SWNS Deputy picture editor Jon Mills said: "Digital camera technology means that citizen journalists are at the front line of virtually every news story in the world. PhotoFame is a great vehicle for us to help iPhone users realise the value of their pictures, some of which may be worth their weight in gold."
