seyDoggy Launches New Sleeker RapidWeaver Theme and Sleek New Look

September 21, 2009 in Web Design (E)

[] Kitchener, Ontario Canada - RapidWeaver theme developer seyDoggy recently launched both a new look and a brand new RapidWeaver theme. seyDoggy Sleeker is a new feature-packed template that combines rich texture, sleek lines, and subtle lighting with power-user-options and an innovative hybrid-split navigation. The end result is an Ultimate seyDoggy theme unlike any other, and a fresh new look for the seyDoggy site that owner Adam Merrifield can't wait to show off. Launched simultaneously with their refreshed website, Sleeker sets the tone for things to come from seyDoggy.

"Every year around this time," Merrifeld says, "we update our look, launch some new products, and generally set the pace for the final quarter of the year. The release of Sleeker is, in a sense, the culmination of a variety of new methods and design trends we've been dabbling in for a little while and we thought it was time to update our site to follow suit."

The Sleeker template, compatible with RapidWeaver 3.6 and above, incorporates many of the web design features (such as textured backgrounds, subtle lighting, and rounded corners) that are currently popular, but also boasts a number of the innovative features seyDoggy has become known for, like the ever-popular ExtraContent, interchangeable header images, and highly comprehensive color control through RapidWeaver's color picker abilities.

Sleeker also brings something brand new to the RapidWeaver table: hybrid-split navigation that allows RapidWeaver users to have both a horizontal menu that hides sub-menu items in a tidy drop-down panel, as well as the option to display those same sub-menu items in a vertical navigation system in the sidebar.

"I can't say for certain whether it's been done before in a RapidWeaver theme," states Merrifield proudly, "but I know I have never come across it. Certainly not without the use of Javascript."

As a seyDoggy Ultimate theme, Sleeker comes fully loaded with the full complement of powerful features, including width control, choice of navigation system, a selection background textures and gradients, ExtraContent, and a variety of others:

* 2 ExtraContent areas
* 10 customizable headers
* 5 navigation systems
* Title, logo, and sidebar positioning
* Sidebar positioning
* RWmultitool ready
* Background textures
* Comprehensive color control
* Width control
* Font size and style selections

Sleeker is one of many RapidWeaver themes enabled with the popular ExtraContent feature, an open source collaborative technology that allows usable content spaces in RapidWeaver (e.g. built-in blog pages, photo albums, Flash slideshows, or iFrame pages) to be extended beyond what the application would normally allow, offering the user additional usable space and, along with that, a wide variety of new opportunities for enhanced creative expression. With ExtraContent, it is now possible to add a personal touch to previously unreachable areas of a page, by adding a lifestream (Twitter, LastFM, Delicious, etc.) below a blog page, adding a Web 2.0 footer to a site's file sharing page, or performing another of the many potential modifications.
