[prMac.com] London, United Kingdom - Phantom Fish today announced the release of Byline 3.2, one of the first releases on the App Store to offer high-resolution graphics for iPhone 4's Retina display. Byline 3.2 also brings multitasking with background syncing and caching to the popular RSS news reader and offline web browser for iPhone and iPod touch.
Artwork has been optimised throughout the app to take full advantage of the unprecedented resolution offered by the new Retina display. In addition, Byline uses multitasking in iOS 4 to finish the current syncing or caching or operation in the background, allowing complete web pages to be automatically saved for offline access.
Byline 3.2 also takes advantage of fast app switching in iOS 4 to open quickly at exactly the same part of the article or web page which was on screen before switching to another app.
"Byline's new multitasking features mean you'll always have something to read on that long flight or subway journey," said Milo Bird, the developer of Byline. "It's breathtaking to be able to browse a whole web page rendered offline in high resolution on the iPhone 4's Retina display."
Byline synchronizes up to 1000 new items, starred items, notes, and folders with a free Google Reader account. Items are viewed by folder or individual feed, and an edit mode allows starring items and marking read/unread in bulk. Articles and their links are displayed in an inline web browser, and can be sent in full by email or shared using Twitter.
Byline provides offline access to all articles, including embedded images. In addition, Byline's offline browsing feature offers instant access to complete web pages. Byline uses statistical analysis to automatically cache web pages for feeds which contain truncated content.
