[] Vancouver (BC) Canada - The Pedlar Lady of Gushing Cross, the innovative and exciting 3D Animated Storybook App produced by British Columbia company Moving Tales Inc., was named iPad "App of the Week" in Apple's U.S. and Canadian iTunes Stores last week. With the announcement The Pedlar Lady rocketed to #1 in the U.S. and Canadian iTunes Stores' rankings for Top Paid and Top Grossing iPad Book Apps, a spot it held through the weekend.

Inspired by the age-old tale of a man who becomes rich through a dream, The Pedlar Lady of Gushing Cross describes the journey of a poor pedlar woman who, guided by the shifting line between the real and the unreal, discovers a surprising and wonderful treasure.

The first of Moving Tales' Classic World Tales series, The Pedlar Lady features film-caliber, sophisticated 3D animation and text, original music and evocative filmic sound effects to create imaginative interpretations and adaptations of classic folk tales, archetypal yarns and legends from around the world.

The Apps' dynamic typographic layouts can be animated using the iPad's accelerometer, incorporate randomly selected alternate perspectives to ensure no two viewings are alike, use Cover Flow-like navigation and include compelling, poetic voice-over narratives and text in both Spanish and English.

The Pedlar Lady's recent v1.01 upgrade included a number of new features, such as additional musical accompaniment and sound effects, random audio effect implementation and stability improvements. Moving Tales also announced that iPhone/iPod touch and localized Spanish versions of the The Pedlar Lady will be released imminently.

"We're thrilled that The Pedlar Lady of Gushing Cross has been selected by Apple as its iPad App of the Week," said Moving Tales' founder, Matthew Talbot-Kelly. "It's a reflection of the hard work and attention of all our collaborators. The positive feedback is fantastic. We can't wait to release our next story, The Unwanted Guest."
