[prMac.com] Durrington, United Kingdom - Stigmergy Games, a new UK developer announces its first title "Virion SD" for Apple iPhone/iTouch and "Virion" for iPad. The app is now available from the app store globally. "Virion SD" is a unique puzzle game loosely based upon real biological processes. Original features include a synced soundtrack to gameplay to enhance emotion and pace, introduction of player portrait profiles for multiple users on a single device and language free via use of image based instructions for gameplay. Coupled with 3D rendered imagery, gameplay is focused and has a retro feel.
Gameplay is broken down into 14 patients which form the campaigns. Each patient contains 9 viral infections which must be defeated in order to bring a patient back to good health; these are selected via the traversal of their "brain map". This provides 126 (14*9) progressive levels of play. Patients are represented in cute cartoon form with the ultimate objective being to bring a smile to their face.
Actual gameplay uses simple touch screen gestures to navigate antibodies onto viral receptors. Removal of the receptors weakens and eventually eliminates the present virus. Deeper levels see the virus attempting to defend itself by releasing chemicals into the area which have adverse effects upon the antibodies. A star award collection scheme further enhances longevity and enables progression through the series of campaigns.
Virion SD is aimed at all age groups, gender and race. This was a specific requirement placed upon its development. The game concept itself was originated in 1995; this is the 3rd attempt to get it to market and is now being done as an independant. The last attempt in 2000 won it first place in the Gameswire award, single screen game category in the UK.
