[prMac.com] London, United Kingdom - iSMEStorage has long supported access to Microsoft SkyDrive and Live Mesh Files on the iPad. Microsoft however, is now moving its services toward Live Essentials in which users can nominate files from their local windows machine which are then accessible in a read only mode from MIcrosoft's SkyDrive web interface.
We recently updated our Cloud Gateway to support the Microsoft Live Essentials files so that existing, and new users, who use iSMEStorage with SkyDrive will be able to access, manage and collaborate with their Live Essentials files directly using the iSMEStorage application.
For existing iSMEStorage users they just need to resync their SkyDrive view with the Cloud Gateway once they have added any Live Essential files.
"We are once again using our Gateway to act as an enabler to access files on the move and on devices that individuals and businesses wish to use" stated CEO Ian Osborne. " If an Organisation decides to use SkyDrive as its file repository then they want to know that users can get manage and collaborate independant of operating system and device. This what we are focused on achieving, not just for Live Essentials, which is also accessible on our BlackBerry and Android mobile tooling, but also for other Cloud Storage and file respositories."
SMEStorage provides provide a cloud storage gateway in which file meta-data is synchronised, but all files continue to reside on the original storage platform. In this way SMEStorage can offer value added services and clients to existing cloud storage providers, whilst also providing a single cloud file system which enables files from many different cloud storage providers to be managed in one cloud file tree. SMEStorage provide services to individual users, and also to corporate users via its Organisation Cloud platform offering, which combines file sharing, user management and collaboration features.
