[prMac.com] Richmond, California - Only 24 hours after its market debut, The Story Home iPhone App for Children, placed in iTunes' exclusive "New and Noteworthy" category for Books. After charming and entertaining children in over 160 countries with their audio podcasts, The Story Home released this beautiful, easy to use iPhone app featuring the chance to own their most popular stories, originals and classics. Award-winning children's production company, Purple Button Media, is overwhelmed by the positive response the app has received.
"Apple's selection of our app is such a great compliment, especially with all the other great apps in the store," says executive producer and co-creator Sharon Rogan Scofield. "The secret of this app is what lies within it: the oldest magic in the world - wonderful stories told by a seasoned storyteller."
"Children are devoted to that which captures and stretches their imaginations; we select our content with the utmost care. Choosing only the best, the ageless masterpieces that have been passed down through countless generations, or creating new original tales like the "Little Bunny:" a series that delivers timeless lessons in modern tales. All of the stories, whether modern or ancient speak clearly to the ear of a child: with impeccable recordings, presented in an enchanting visual setting. Today's technology does not replace the book and the hearth, but it adds a unique dimension to the idea of home--that we are at home in ourselves when we are immersed in a story," explains author, co-creator, Alan Scofield. "Sound designer Donald Washington responded to this vision, saying that "working on this project allowed me a unique opportunity to use my creative side to design sound effects for their stories. With the love and dedication they put into the production, I wanted to make sure the audio we used, complemented the storyteller's voice, and I think we accomplished that. I am so happy to see it find an audience."
The Story Home app features 72 stories, which are organized into 14 categories, search-able by author or title. A bookmark feature allows the user to keep their place in a paused story, and the "My Library" feature allows the user to collect and store their favorite tales. Each week, the top 10 most popular stories are recommended as a guide to the listener. Users can also share information about the app with a friend via e-mail, Twitter and Facebook. A colorful picture and vivid descriptions explain each story.
