[prMac.com] Wavre, Belgium - Vision Smarts today is pleased to announce the addition of a high-performance QR code reader to their comparison shopping app pic2shop(R). Pic2shop relies on proprietary algorithms to quickly recognize barcodes and QR codes even if they are damaged, skewed, badly lit or blurry. With one tap, users can then visit a web link or add contact information to their phone's address book.
When it was launched in 2009, Pic2shop(R) was the original barcode scanner app for the iPhone. It is now available for all iOS, Android and Windows Phone 7 or 7.5 devices. Pic2shop has empowered its users to make better purchasing decisions and collectively save millions by comparing the offers of thousands of retailers worldwide.
With the addition of a QR code reader, pic2shop eliminates the need for a separate app, and delivers the same seamless experience for QR codes than for UPCs or EANs. The information is read by aiming the phone's camera at the code for one second. The user is immediately presented with relevant information: prices and links to stores for consumer products, web links or contact information for QR codes.
The QR code software, like the UPC/EAN scanner, is available for licensing as an SDK. By adding a lightweight library and implementing a simple API, developers can add robust QR code scanning to their apps.
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.0 or later
