SunLeaf Solar Launches Solar Charger for iPad and other Gadgets

[prMac.com] Saint Paul, Minnesota - SunLeaf Solar is pleased to introduce the new SunLeaf Pro, the iPad Solar Charger. SunLeaf's solar charger is a USB-based device which plugs into an electronic gadget like the iPad or a Kindle, and can fold up to an eighth of its size. It is convenient and portable and unlike electricity which may not be available everywhere (say, on the top of a mountain), can provide power anywhere there is sunlight. The device is compatible with electronics capable of being charged via a USB port. It is known to be compatible with the following devices:
* iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation)
* iPad
* iPad 2
* iPhone 4S
* iPhone 4
* iPhone 3GS
* Amazon Kindle and Fire
* GoPro video cameras
* PSP Go
* Nook Color
The box includes one SunLeaf Solar Charger, one USB voltage regulator, and one Quick Start Guide. Charging times will vary depending on the strength of the light source and the battery's ultimate capacity. The iPad 2, for example, has a battery capacity of 6600mAh. In ideal conditions, the SunLeaf Pro charger is capable of putting out 1000mAh. What this means is that in order to fully-charge your iPad 2, your SunLeaf charger would need to be in the sun for 3-4 hours for a half-charge or 6-7 hours for a full charge. An iPhone would charge fully in under four hours in good sunlight.
Through its solar-powered apparatus, SunLeaf hopes to break into the market and help to reduce the output of CO2 emissions by 15,000 tons over the next five years. If only 10% of iPad owners (roughly 3 million people) switched to using SunLeaf to power their iPads, they would save nearly $1 million dollars in energy costs and would reduce nearly 3700 tons of CO2 emissions each year. In more practical terms, that would be the equivalent of saving nearly 200,000 trees annually.
