[prMac.com] Graz, Austria - Individual developer Gerald Aquila announced that Firetask for Mac 2.0, a free major update to the only task management application effectively combining GTD and traditional task management elements, is available today as a download from the Mac App Store for $39.99. Some of the amazing new features include a drag & drop-enabled "Organize" view that was previously only available on the iPad, a filterable "Calendar" view and the functionality of searching in active task lists.
"Firetask for Mac 2.0 represents a quantum leap compared to earlier versions of our desktop app and we are eager to see what our users think about the new version", said Gerald Aquila. "Bringing the Organize view to the Mac helps tremendously with weekly GTD reviews and the new dynamic Calendar view provides a unique overview across scheduled tasks."
Additional new features include custom repeat patterns for scheduled tasks, time-based reminders via Growl, and emailing of project and category task lists. Firetask's user interface also got a facelift including a more GTD-like tool navigation, a completely redesigned graphical date chooser, improved drag & drop due to double-click enabled inline-editing and support for fullscreen mode on Mac OS X Lion (10.7). iPhone and iPad users of Firetask should load the new iOS versions that are launched together with the Mac version to take full advantage of improved cloud-syncing and support for time-based reminders and syncing of custom repeats.
Firetask lets you focus on the most important due and next tasks across all projects by combining concepts from David Allen's Getting Things Done (GTD) approach with practical elements of classical task management such as due dates and priorities. Its unique "Waiting For" list makes it easy to keep track of delegated tasks and its highly visual user interface improves the clarity of task lists without overloading them. Unlike other task management apps, Firetask explicitly organizes all tasks into projects and thus, makes it easier to manage great numbers of open tasks.
Firetask for Mac is available through the Mac App Store for $39.99 (US). Firetask for iPad and Firetask for iPhone/iPod touch are available through the iTunes App Store for $9.99 and $5.99 respectively. A free 15-day trial version of Firetask for Mac can be downloaded for free from the Firetask website.
