Helical Software Releases AudioGopher for iPhone/iPod touch

[prMac.com] Washington, DC - Helical Software today is proud to announce that AudioGopher, a first-of-its kind audio annotation application, is available exclusively for iPhone and iPod touch. AudioGopher is an audio player that allows users to place bookmarks, with editable text, within podcasts, audiobooks, or radio recordings.
"AudioGopher is perfect if you're listening to a long podcast and want to mark favorite songs or segments and skip directly to those spots," said Roger Caplan, President of Helical Software. "AudioGopher is also great for students who want to note portions of audiobooks or lectures to instantly call up key quotes or sections."
AudioGopher is unique because most other interfaces, including Apple's music player, don't allow users to annotate tracks in any way. While other applications, intended for sound engineers, may allow for more complicated slicing and dicing of audio files, AudioGopher can be used by anyone - it's the digital equivalent of dog-earing a page and just as easy to do.
AudioGopher also syncs perfectly with a user's iTunes library, so there's no need to re-sync or download tracks.
In AudioGopher, users tap a button to place makers in the currently playing file, indicating an interesting spot. Listeners can skip from marker to marker in much the same way that they move between tracks in an album, and can customize a marker's descriptive text. An iPod Classic-style jog wheel also allows fine-grained fast forward/reverse, regardless of the track length, eliminating the frustration of trying to move forward/back by a few seconds using a traditional slider interface.
