Iris - A Siri like assistant for iPhone, but better
June 5, 2012 in Services
[prMac.com] Middlebury, Vermont - If you don't have an iPhone 4S with Siri yet and want to enjoy the use of an intelligent personal digital assistant then look no further. Iris(TM) is an alternative to Siri for non-iPhone 4S users. It functions remarkably well and in some ways better than Siri. We are not a proxy service, but a full fledged standalone iPhone personal assistant service providing you the very same type of features that Siri does on the iPhone 4S.
Iris can make phone calls, send text messages, play music, check traffic conditions, display images, create reminders, check the weather, set an alarm, give the time, set the timer, check your calendar, create notes, provide definitions, do a Web search, return Yelp searches, and answer just about any who, what, where, and when question you can think of and even solve math problems and more just by asking!
Although some speech recognition systems utilize a more natural way of speaking for issuing commands, they tend to produce more erroneous results and sometimes none at all. Iris does in fact recognize and process your natural way of speaking for many inquiries and tasks, but for some commands we use a slightly less than natural way of speaking approach which provides more accurate results more of the time. A list of commands and their syntax (how to say them) is provided for you on your iPhone just by asking Iris for them, so there is no need to try and immediately memorize dozens of commands to use Iris fluently.
