iPhone App Responds To Parents' Pleads For Help With Kids' Screen Time

June 18, 2012 in Lifestyle

[prMac.com] Layton, Utah - Screen Time has received great reviews from users and bloggers in its inaugural year and now its developers are releasing much anticipated updates based on feedback from parents. Beginning this week with a top priority feature, parents will now be able to add screen minutes manually. But "there's more to come", Rod Liberal, creator of Screen Time says "I've received hundreds of emails from parents who love the app. They've provided great ideas for improvements and new features to help with maintaining healthy screen time habits for their children."
Screen Time has also received numerous positive reviews from prominent bloggers around the Web:

An app that motivates my kid to clean his room? I am so in." - Cool Mom Tech

"Impressive features that many parents will appreciate I'm sure." - Bibsy @ itsMyi

"Parental management the 21st century way!!! This is an application that we will be using frequently and can help any type of family." - Andrea @ Applicable2U

A sneak peak into upcoming features include iCloud integration, weekly allowance, graphs and reports, and a highly requested iPad version.

Rod Liberal, developer of ScreenTime, says the thinking behind ScreenTime is simple. "Essentially, kids are able to bank their time and trade those minutes for customized rewards. In turn, they learn delayed gratification and long-term savings concepts. Some studies show that children in the United States watch an average of three or four hours of television every day, my own kids included. That's why we created ScreenTime."

ScreenTime allows parents to set up a daily allowance of minutes of screen time for each child. It enables the parents to track when and where each minute is being spent with an easy-to-use, intuitive iPhone application. Kids are also able to "earn" more television and computer time by doing chores, completing school work, helping a sibling, or by any other means determined appropriate by the parent.

"The very best part about the application is it is fully customizable," continued Liberal. The screens, tasks, rewards, and time allowances can all be modified by the parent or guardian to suit the needs of the family."

Liberal's own children's time managing experience helped create the concept behind ScreenTime. The application is centered around a parent or guardian's ability to help children combine all of their daily media interactions into one single system. "ScreenTime is not just a time tracker. It's a tool that gives parents and children consistent and reasonable daily expectations for watching tv and playing video games."
