[prMac.com] Rogers, Arkansas - another in their growing catalog of iOS games from independent developers around the world. Featuring a Japanese fine art motif, the elegant game eschews the various "features" of other Sudoku games. Instead, it offers a clean, minimalist, 9 x 9 grid of cyan, on a white background, with sans serif black numerals. There are no aids, hints, or alerts; just pure Sudoku puzzle pleasure with touch control of cell and number selection. Because these are purely logical puzzles, working on their solution improves memory, concentration, and step-by-step thinking. There are no mathematical operations, such as addition or subtraction, involved.

Agalag Games, a division of McLeod Agency, Inc. was founded as an app publisher in 2011, and they immediately began seeking outstanding apps from independent developers around the world. Fun Sudoku Game HD is the company's tenth app, and was chosen based on its universal appeal and outstanding design. Created in Russia, the game's puzzle generating algorithm produces games at a medium to hard level of difficulty. Each puzzle is designed to have only a single solution. A digital timer is included as a convenience, but there is no scoring or time limit.
Pronounced soo'-dough-koo, the international gaming favorite is a number-placement puzzle, rather than an arithmetic puzzle. However, as studied by combinatorics, it is of significant interest to mathematicians. According to Wikipedia, "The objective is to fill a 9×9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 sub-grids that compose the grid (also called "boxes", "blocks", "regions", or "sub-squares") contains all of the digits from 1 to 9." Historically, Sudoku fans have solved puzzles in newspapers or puzzle books using a pencil to enter erasable numbers into the grid. With touch devices, players can much more conveniently try candidate numbers.
"Fun Sudoku Game HD is a return to the fundamentals of Sudoku gameplay," stated Jeff McLeod of Agalag Games. "There are no distractions, no added features."
