[prMac.com] Denver, Colorado - AppIt Ventures, a mobile application development company tied for first place in the University of Colorado Denver's Business Plan Competition. It was an exclusive event for student businesses, with $21,500 available in cash prizes donated by area individuals and businesses. Over 50 student businesses applied to the competition, which included an investor pitch night and then public business plan presentation for the top seven finalists at the Four Seasons hotel in Downtown Denver. AppIt Ventures received the most points at the investor pitch night before going on to tie for first place in the overall competition.
"We were thrilled to win and couldn't have been happier with the results," said Jeff Macco, the Co-Founder of AppIt Ventures.
AppIt Ventures was founded by Jeff Macco and Rob Carpenter in early 2012, when the two partners met while serving as student associates on the Rutt Bridges Venture Capital Fund at the Bard Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado Denver. Both had a strong passion for technology and business. Their first product was an app called Business Plan Premier, which was used as the basis for their winning entry into the competition. It broke even in three weeks and went on to sell thousands of copies around the world; avoiding the trend that befalls 80% of apps which never break even.
"Once we realized how affordable app development could be and how many great ideas that people had for apps, we couldn't resist the desire to help other entrepreneurs turn their app ideas into reality," said Carpenter. "Small business is a critical component of job growth and we love helping people succeed."
AppIt Ventures' goal of helping entrepreneurs and "idea guys" create custom apps extends far beyond basic development. AppIt Ventures is also developing a number of processes for evaluating ideas, assisting with business development and becoming an industry leader in post-launch marketing strategies. The goal is to not only help people save money on app development, but to help clients build businesses around their apps.
