[prMac.com] Seoul, Korea - YFactory today is pleased to introduce Leo's Book 1.0 for iPad, their new, interactive book for kids. Among the most remarkable children's books in the App Store, each page of the story is read aloud and consists of video of a master sand artist as she creates an original illustration. Illuminated with white light from beneath, the layer of sand takes on evocative shapes and textures, much as the narrative takes shape in the imagination of the reader/viewer. The app features Interactive, Movie, Book, and Drawing modes.
Leo's Book tells the story of a little lion named Leo, who finds a square shaped object in the empty field in the woods. "What is this? I've never seen anything like this before." He asks his friends, the elephant, the giraffe, and the dove if they know what it is. Finally, the little girl whose book Leo has found identifies the object. As they read together, she demonstrates how the book can open miraculous experiences of different times and different places. Finally falling asleep, Leo has discovered a dreamworld he can enter anytime, even when awake.
* Storybook text can be read aloud by a professional narrator and voiceover artists as each character
* Narration, background music, and sound effects may be toggled On/Off
* Interactive mode - after completed, each sandpainting can be animated and/or filled with color
* Movie mode - instead of viewing page by page, the entire book is presented without pause
* Book mode - the video showing the artist create the sandpainting is not shown, only her finished picture
* Drawing mode - kids can create, save, and email their own drawings that are combined with scenes from the book
A paean to the imagination of young children, Leo's Book is a celebration of books told in a startlingly original ebook for iPad. Sandpaintings, whether fixed or unfixed, have been found in cultures throughout history all over the world. The sand art in Leo's Book is dynamic art - it is created in real-time. Watching the graceful hands of Eun-young Choi, as she smudges, smoothes, clears, shapes, and sprinkles brown sand on a light box, adds a creative dimension not present in other kids' books. Unlike elaborate book illustrations that leave little to the imagination, this live-action sand art leaves nearly everything to the imagination. Their attention absolutely focused as characters come to life and their imagination completely engaged as the story unfolds, young children (and adults, as well) are sure to make Leo's Book one of their favorites.
"Leo's Book is the world's first sand art, interactive fable app," commented Yong Nam Kim of YFactory. "Let's take a trip to the fantastic fairy tale world drawn on a light box with sand art."
