[prMac.com] Trivandrum, India - Sparkling Apps is proud to announce Apple has accepted the update to our Google maps implementation on iOS6, called 'Sparkling Maps'. It now offers vastly improved turn by turn navigation, better streetview, and it resolves some of the glitches of the initial version.
Apple approved the universal update to 'Sparkling Maps', which means we now offer full iPad support to our Google maps implementation on iOS6. We also added a number of additional features such as improved turn by turn navigation, travel modes, more place categories, and made the app more complete by offering auto complete while searching for locations and both portrait and landscape orientation.
We will submit another update today, which will make the interface of the app even more similar to Google maps (plus using a few layout improvements that Apple maps brought along). As always, we won't know if Apple will approve it, but so far, they seem to have no problem with our approach.
The maps scene on iOS is very interesting at the moment, with Nokia now also about to release a iOS version of 'Here'. Still, Sparkling Maps is currently the only available option that offers streetview and turn by turn by turn navigation on Google maps data. This offers a solution to many users who depended on Google maps and were highly disappointed with its replacement by Apple maps in iOS6.
We are very excited that Apple seems to have no issues with us delivering Google maps functionality on iOS6, including the turn by turn navigation on Google maps that was earlier only available on Android devices. This is now the first available app on Apple devices that offers streetview and turn by turn navigation on Google maps data. This should be particularly appealing to Apple users in places where Apple maps coverage is currently poor.
The current version works great on all iPhones, iPads and iPod touches.
