[prMac.com] Stockholm, Sweden - Wombi Airplane, to be released this December 18 for iPod, iPad, and iPhone, was developed for kids ages 4 and up to make learning fun. The game gets children thinking about the way airplanes work by letting them assemble their very own. Players are placed in a workshop-like setting with a large selection of plane parts to choose from. Piece by piece, they fasten the propeller, the wings, and so on. With the game's variety of plane parts and designs, there is a lot of room for creativity.
Next, players take their newly built aircraft for an adventure. They take off into a beautiful, illustrated landscape with cartoonish graphics that pop from the screen. To control the game, players must tap the screen and adjust the plane's height at the right time, or else it will dip too low. The challenge is to keep a watchful eye out for birds, trees, mountains, and an evil enemy who is out to sabotage them. The goal is to collect delivery boxes, which are strung up on colorful helium balloons. When the player lands, the boxes can be opened to discover what treasures have been scored - jewels and more.
"Kids will like this game because it allows them to express themselves creatively, and it puts them in the pilot seat. It also slips that educational aspect in there without them really noticing" says game creator Markus Wedenborn.
There are multiple levels to this game to keep it interesting and to continuously challenge the players. Adventurous music and fun animations create a captivating, lively atmosphere. The plane's pilot is a friendly, sporty raccoon, but once those wind goggles are on, this bushy-tailed creature is all about focus. Kids are sure to find a loveable character within the detailed illustrations.
