[prMac.com] Rome, Italy - Mia Foto released today Share & Spare, designed to make travel a more social experience at home and abroad. The ad-hoc journey sharing features make Share & Spare perfect for travellers looking to make friends and reduce their travel costs. By sharing start and end points, Share & Spare app users can quickly and easily network with other travellers heading in the same direction. They can then agree to share costs, making the journey cheaper (and friendlier!) in the process.
"Share & Spare allows travellers to make new friends and meet like-minded people, making their journeys much more enjoyable," said lead developer Fabrizio Bartolomucci, "and the flexible journey planning tools make the app suitable for more than just car-sharing."
"For instance, we expect walking tour operators will find the route planning helps keep their customers together and on track," explained Bartolomucci, "By simply setting start and end points, the tour operator can advise customers where to meet, and help stragglers keep up should they get separated on the way."
Routes can be mapped in advance, allowing travellers to clearly see the route to their destination. These "paths" can then be joined to other existing routes to create tours of local sights, or circular walking routes, an excellent way to sight-see on foot. Share & Spare is the ultimate tool for creating crowdsourced tours anywhere in the world.
"Because Share & Spare is so simple to use, local residents can build tours for visitors and tourists, showing them the highlights of their town or area," Bartolomucci went on, "There is also the potential for local business owners to create new revenue streams by creating tours that pass by their shop or restaurant. They can then share these routes with Share & Spare users, helping to bring their business to the attention of travellers."
The route mapping functions of Share & Spare are complimented by a built-in taxi booking service. Apps users can easily see nearby taxis on their map and book a journey with a few taps. Integration with Bartolomucci's Taxi Professional app means that travellers can get an accurate cost estimate for their journey in advance. They can then share their route with other Share & Spare users, inviting them along for the ride and providing the opportunity to split the cost, making travel cheaper and more environmentally friendly. Alternatively, cost conscious users may choose to wait until they have identified a travelling companion before booking a taxi.
"Cutting the cost of travel is simple with Share & Spare," said Bartolomucci, "the flexible design means that you can reserve a taxi when you want, where you want and with who you want, and still pay less than the normal fare by splitting costs."
The quick and easy route planning and sharing functions make Share & Spare perfect for use in arranging flash-mobs, treasure hunts or any other social event requiring shared maps. Share & Spare allows people to meet with friends at a local address, and instantly mapping the shortest route to the rendezvous point. Each traveller can also track the progress of their companion towards the meeting point too.
Share & Spare is the latest app from iOS expert Fabrizio Bartolomucci. The app is the newest addition to Bartolomucci's In Arrivo suite of social travel tools and can be used by travellers worldwide to navigate and network.
