[prMac.com] Ljubljana, Slovenia - The Slovenian Tourist Board has launched a new mobile app as a new example of best practice for the current tourism marketing mantra of "SOLOMO" (Social, Local and Mobile).
In the development of the Slovenia's Top 50 app this small country has also shown its ability to harness the power of "big data" and gleam information from the web about the habits of potential tourists and use this information to design the content strategy for new apps. The "Slovenia's Top 50" App highlights the 50 tourism attractions that receive the most visits on the official Slovenia web site.
According to the developers: "A mobile app is not just about making the information from a website viewable on mobile devices. It is about understanding the needs of today's tourists and how and when they use different devizes at different stages of the travel experience. Of course the beautiful images and descriptions of Slovenia in the app might help inspire the choice of Slovenia for a vacation but our primary objective in creating the app was to enrich the experience once in Slovenia. We have selected the information that is most useful to the traveller in Slovenia and presented it in a format that is accessible online or offline at any time during the holiday."
The 4Ps of marketing are still applicable in the 4G mobile era. When developing the app, as part of their tourism marketing strategy, the Slovenia Tourist Board put the "P" for People first by studying the habits, interests and needs of real tourists. The Product is showcased by selection of the experiences that are most interesting to the tourist. Place has become an increasingly capital "P" since the incorporation of GPS technology that allows the Apps mapping tool to immediately locate the users' current position and suggest experiences and attraction nearby and the best route to any of Slovenia's top 50 from any other point. Last but not least, the "P" for price has not been overlooked. The app is free and it's content is downloaded in full to minimize the need for using expensive 3G roaming services.
The Slovenia's Top 50 app is available free of charge for Apple iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices.
