UniChar Picker 2.0 for iOS Update Offers Apple Watch Capabilities

in Utilities (F)

[prMac.com] Ogden, Utah - Developer Jordan Hipwell has announced a major update to the UniChar Picker app for iOS. UniChar Picker 2.0 has been redesigned to allow users to more quickly find and utilize over 3,600 unicode characters and special symbols. All characters are displayed in a single scrollable page, with a section index provided to immediately jump to any section, allowing for a fluid and intuitive navigation experience.

In addition to the redesigned interface, UniChar Picker is now available for Apple Watch. Designed specifically for the smaller Watch display, the WatchKit-enabled app allows users to quickly glance at recently used characters, or browse all of the symbols and view information about each character. At any time, users may use Handoff to jump right into UniChar on their iPhone or iPad in order to work with the characters they are viewing.

UniChar Picker 2.0 also brings a new widget, available directly in the Today view of Notification Center. This widget showcases the user's recently used characters, and allows users to easily copy characters to work with. It's never been so easy to access special symbols, with just a single swipe down from the top of the screen.

"I am always listening to the feedback from those use UniChar Picker, and by far the most common request was the ability to view your recently used characters," said designer and developer Jordan Hipwell. "With UniChar Picker 2.0, I am excited to announce recents are now accessible and kept in sync between the iOS app, Apple Watch app, Notification Center widget, and the UniChar Keyboard. I am excited for what this new capability, and all-new interactions, will offer to users of UniChar."

Since UniChar Picker was launched in June of 2014, updates have been steadily released that have expanded the number of special characters available to use, now featuring over 7x more characters than were originally available. For iOS 8, the UniChar Keyboard added the ability to type special characters in any app.
