Sep 21, 2008 - Intego today announced that it has discovered a QuickTime bug which may be used as a vector for attack. Apple's QuickTime, the media software used to play music and movies on Mac OS X and Windows, has recently been update to version 7.5.5, but a serious bug has already been discovered that may be used as a vector for malicious attacks. Intego's Virus Monitoring Center is keeping a close eye on this bug and whether malicious users are attempting to add payload to QuickTime files.


Net Nanny for Mac to Be Powered by Intego

Intego Security Memo: Mac OS X Leopard Quarantine Bug

Nov 22, 2007 - Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard, provides a "quarantine" system that alerts users when they attempt to open applications that arrived via Mail, Safari or iChat, or that came in disk images via these programs. This system should inform users of all cases when such executable files are being opened, but a bug in the quarantine system, discovered by Heise Security on November 20, 2007, can allow users to launch attachments, which may be malicious, from Mail.
