[prMac.com] Wiesbaden, Germany - Following up on the release of Today Todo Pro 1.4.1, the latest creation from Spielhaus was picked up by Apple. For the last week Apple featured the app in the popular What's Hot category in the App Store. Today approaches the crowded segment of productivity apps with a fresh take on usability. Designed with a strict policy of fewest taps possible in mind, Today has been created as such to expand its feature set without hapering usability.
The application's appearance radiates positivity and tranquility by displaying a sunny landscape that holds the user's tasks. The same landscape is presented in two other variations (night scene and space theme) for the display of past and future todos. The upcoming update provides the user with another useful expansion. Users may now group tasks to individual lists. The lists can be accessed by lowering an unobtrusive curtain from the top of the screen. This feature expands the sophistication level of the tool while keeping the interface clean.
Apart from lists, the update includes a special function to add untimed tasks - specified as "Someday". Todos set for Someday disappear from the main view allowing the user to focus on the most important actual tasks. Yet this feature brings Today closer to a GTD compliant task management app. Besides the manual sorting of tasks a new priority based sorting option has been added.
Sliding the sun to switch the different task views is both unique and easy to grasp. Adding new tasks can still be accomplished with a fraction of the amount of taps required in other apps - simply by turning the device by 90 degrees. Today's overall look and polish as well as the innovative interface are still very well received. Many of the written App Store reviews reward it with the highest rating available.
Additional useful features:
* Sorting, editing and deleting tasks using well known iPhone interface paradigms
* Adding tasks with future due dates
* Several priorities for todos can be set
* Unfinished tasks can be automatically transfered to the list of the actual day (optional setting)
* Icon badge showing the number of unfinished todos
Today will be developed further following it's primary goal of preserving a clutterless interface. Among the upcoming features the following list contains those who stand out most:
* Built-in web server allowing the management of tasks from the user's browser (on the desktop)
* Mail export and import
* iCal sync via Google Calendar or Toodledo
* Push notifications
* iPhone and iPod touch
* Requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later
* 0.8 MB
