Philadelphia, Pa - December 13, 2007 - Will Segway polo be the next big sport? You can judge for yourself this Sunday as The Digital Lifestyle broadcasts a live Segway polo match, between San Jose and Oakland.
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, who captains the San Jose team, will provide commentary during the match. According to Ryan Ritchey, producer of The Digital Lifestyle, the live event will be a broadcast first.
"This is the first live broadcast of a full match," Ritchey said. Launched in late November, The Digital Lifestyle is a video network focusing on Apple news, rumors, and lifestyle, as well as the broader tech industry.
"Segway polo, especially with Steve's (Wozniak) involvement, is a perfect match for us, and will allow us to show our ability to broadcast live from any point with broadband access."
The match begins at 1PM Eastern, 10AM Pacific, Sunday, Dec. 16th, and marks the first live sporting event for the new channel. "This is by far the longest and most challenging live broadcast we've done. I'm sure there will be plenty of bloopers to go along with the polo match. That's the fun of doing it live," Ritchey said.
The Digital Lifestyle uses a laptop computer and a broadband cellular card to upload video to their 24-hour video network, powered by mogulus.com, a tech upstart providing live streaming capability.
First exhibited in 2003, San Francisco's Bay Area Segway enthusiasts group began playing Segway polo regularly in July 2004.
Founded in November 2007, The Digital Lifestyle is the first 24-hour video network dedicated to Apple news, rumors, and lifestyle.
