Legend Maker 1.0 for Mac Converts Books for iPad, Kindle & ePub Devices

April 19, 2010 in Publishing (E)

[prMac.com] Winnipeg, Canada - ZappTek today is pleased to announce the introduction of Legend Maker 1.0 for Mac OS X, their new application which automatically converts book manuscripts from standard word processor files into eBooks. Converted manuscripts are properly formatted for the Apple iPad, Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, Sony Reader, and other ePub-compatible devices, as well as reader software such as ibis and Bookworm. Legend Maker requires no knowledge of HTML, and simplifies the creation of eBooks which may include images, indexes, tables of contents, endnotes, footnotes, and complex layout and design.

In 2008 ZappTek introduced Legends, the first line of original fiction books for the iPhone. With Legend Maker 1.0 the company has taken the tools used to produce Legends books for the iPhone and incorporated them into a single application for use by authors and publishers. Starting with any word processor file, ZappTek recommends saving it as an RTF (Rich Text Format) file before importing it into Legend Maker. The user then inserts simple text-based tags into the manuscript, indicating page breaks, bookmarks (used to create the Table of Contents), and images (for placement of graphics and photos). The application then automatically carries over into the eBook conversion most layout and typographical elements of the original, including italics, boldface, indentation, hyperlinks, and tables.
