[prMac.com] Toronto, Canada - Announcing that Kengin Consulting Inc., the developers of AmsterdamFUN, has launched a new application for iPhone and iPod touch users. The app offers a plethora of fun locations and activities for the visitor to Amsterdam, along with a sophisticated mapping feature to help tourists get to where they're going without getting lost. Developers have included some fun elements for using the application, as well.
Amsterdam is a stunningly beautiful city, full of some of the world's best sights, shopping, nightlife and food. To a visitor however, every street can look the same and it is easy to get lost while wandering around looking for an interesting location or activity. Thanks to Kengin Consulting's new app, that no longer has to be a problem.
Kengin CEO, Jacob Kennedy, was prompted to develop AmsterdamFUN after his own visit to the city, "We fell in love with Amsterdam and were heading back there recently and thought we should download an app that would help us easily navigate to our favorite places. After searching the iTunes store, nothing was quite what we were looking for, so we decided to make our own."
From his experience as a tourist, Kennedy was able to formulate a fun guide for a great Amsterdam vacation, "After developing AmsterdamFUN, we went back there to test it out. We found it extremely helpful in planning our days. Basically, we reviewed the items by list or map, depending on our mood, then set our favorites for each day that we were there. Then, as we wandered the city, we checked the map to see what was close and made our way to where we wanted to go. It worked exactly as I had hoped it would."
Users seem impressed, as well. So far, AmsterdamFUN has received some good comments from people who have downloaded the app and put it through its trials. As users can be quite critical of mobile applications, the feedback seems to indicate that Kennedy's creation is a success.
The FUN part of AmsterdamFUN is stressed in the literature that is available for the product, which lists eighty different sights and activities for the casual visitor to Amsterdam. Kengin developers have even tried to make finding the fun, fun. In the app's list view of locations, there are cute symbols for easy recognition and choosing; users can knock on a house door or shake the device for random suggestions, tap windows to hear sounds and there are hidden, surprise features, too.
* Contains listings for 80 fun places and activities in Amsterdam

* Satellite street view offers a real look at the site being travelled to

For those unfamiliar with the similar looking streets of Amsterdam, the sophisticated mapping tool can be a life saver, or at least a time saver. Tourists can consult the map to find out where they are and discover how to get to another location. People don't have to wander aimlessly unless they want to. The map can also be used to view all of the locations a person plans to visit while in the city. This feature alone makes AmsterdamFUN a handy traveling tool.
