1Password for Android Released

July 7, 2010 in Software (E)

[prMac.com] Toronto (Ontario, Canada) - Agile Web Solutions has been listening to the passionate Android phone users on their forums and is thrilled to be able to deliver a solution for Android-loving 1Password users. 1Password is a form-filling, password-creating, highly secure database which keeps track of web logins, secure notes, identities, credit cards, bank accounts, and software registration information on Mac and Windows computers.

Hot on the heels of the 1Password Windows beta release, 1Password for Android will allow data from both Macs and PCs to be securely stored and accessed on an Android phone. 1Password for Android is a read-only application. You can securely access your logins, passwords, notes and credit cards, but you can't add new items from your phone.

Installation is simple and can be done from the Android Marketplace:

1. Find the Market application icon on your Android phone and tap it to launch.
2. On the main Market page, tap the search button in the top right corner.
3. Type 1Password in the search field, and select the 1Password application when you see it in the search results.
4. Read the application description, and then tap the "Install" button. You should now have a 1Password icon on your phone's screen.
5. Copy your 1Password.agilekeychain folder from your Desktop to the root directory of your phone's SD card.

You can now launch 1Password on your Android phone. You should see the unlock screen where you can enter the same Master Password that you used on the Desktop.

1Password for Android is free during the beta period and is available immediately in the Android Marketplace. See the Announcement and Setup Instructions link for an illustrated walk through on how to install 1Password on Android.
