[prMac.com] Berlin, Germany - Independent video game development studio Enter-Brain-Ment GmbH has released Somersault 1.0.5 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. With exceptional gameplay and imaginative graphics, the newcomer sets new standards in the independent segment and shows how to achieve high-quality productions, despite a small budget but with creativity, effort and dedication instead.
"Somersault" is a tribute from the game-enthusiastic team of Enter-Brain-Ment to the classics in video game history. It combines elements of action and platform games with unique and intuitive touch screen controls. The intuitive, yet complex gameplay guarantees a quick access in the game and excites beginners as well as experienced players.
The player controls the game character (Flip Fullfeather) by drawing a springboard with his finger on the screen. Flips quiet and peaceful planet got invaded by Dr. Proto. He subdues the inhabitants of the planet and exploits it with his machines. Flip is the only one of his tribe who could save himself and starts a quest to free his planet of the reign of the machines.
During the entire development, an extraordinary emphasis was put on the graphical aspects of the game. The entire game is designed in 3D. It takes full advantage of the graphical potential of the iPhone/ iPod touch. The player will experience 19 game-levels in 5 different worlds. During his play he will encounter a big amount of enemies and friends. Somersault has an Open Feint connection giving the players the possibility of competing against each other on a global high scores board, Facebook and Twitter.
In October 2008, Enter-Brain-Ment released their debut game "Somersault" for PC/MAC online and won the "European Innovative Games Award 2008" as well as the "Gamesload Newcomer Award 2008". The innovative control of "Somersault" fits perfectly for touch screen devices. Therefore the team decided in august 2009 to develop a version for iPhone and iPod touch.
Since then four graphic artists, one software engineer from "Byterockers gamedevelopment Studio" and one sound artist were working on an entirely improved version of the original.
