[prMac.com] Camp Verde, Arizona - Houseplant 411, LLC today is pleased to announce Houseplant 411 V2.01, a free update to their top-rated app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Filled with photos, tips, FAQs, links, information, and advice, the app is a complete practical guide to choosing and growing houseplants. Houseplant 411 has earned accolades from House Beautiful Magazine as one of the 20 best apps for home decoration and ease of living, iPhone Life as App of the Week, and the App Store as New and Notable. Among the new features in Version 2.01 is the iCheckPlant reminder service. A professional indoor plant expert provides scheduled reminders for checking plants. These notifications clearly explain how to determine whether a specific plant needs water.
The app contains 12 easily navigable modules. The core modules are self-contained, interlinked, stored locally on the user's iPhone, and require no Internet connection. The new iCheckPlant service, the enhanced "Ask Judy" expert plant advice module, Share, a User's forum, and links to web-based References do require an Internet connection. The Browse Module's database lists 88 plants alphabetically by their common and scientific names. Chosen for their attractiveness, uniqueness, ease of care, adaptability, or general availability, these plants are ideal for home or office. Selecting any plant activates its Plant Data screen with pictures, a General Description screen, a Plant Care screen, and a Plant FAQ screen. New plants requested by users can now be quickly added to the database.
The Choose Module of Houseplant 411 generates a short list of plants that fulfill all the specific requirements a user may have. The user can filter the database according to Lighting Conditions, Ease of Care, Plant Type (table, floor, hanging, flowering, special occasion, bonsai), Office plants, NASA certified anti-pollutant plants, and Poisonous or Non-Poisonous houseplants. The Favorites Module allows the user to select individual plants that are of special interest. Here, notes and to-do lists can be added, reminder times may be entered into iCheckPlant, and there is easy access to the "Ask Judy" feature for help with specific problems. The Glossary is accessible from any screen and links to the plant information articles. The Glossary contains illustrated articles about pests, diseases, propagation, and indoor plant toxicity, as well as definitions of houseplant terms.
The developers expect the iCheckPlant service to be very popular. Not only are users reminded when to check their plants, they are given a detailed explanation as to how to determine if a plant needs water. The newly added Share, a plant user's Forum and community bulletin board, allows plant lovers from around the world to share their experiences and tips about plant care. "Ask Judy" has always been one of the favorite features in Version 1 of Houseplant 411. It has been enhanced in Version 2.01 to allow users to work from within the app, send in photos of plants along with their questions, and receive personal answers from Judy, the Houseplant 411 plant expert, within days.
