[prMac.com] Denver, Colorado - CleverMedia has released Just Solitaire: Klondike 1.1, their free solitaire game for iOS. Just Solitaire: Klondike is the first iPhone app to come from CleverMedia's Just Solitaire web site. Even though Just Solitaire: Klondike is free, it has the same advanced gameplay options as apps you need to purchase. You can select 1, 3 or unlimited deals; 1 or 3 card flips from the stock, and a variety of options such as auto-play, hints, statistics, different backgrounds and scoring methods.
Developer Gary Rosenzweig said he planned this iPhone app back when he started revising the Just Solitaire web site. "I built the new site around technology that could be used as both free web-based games and iPhone apps," Rosenzweig said. "I also had the iPhone's screen and touch capabilities in mind from the very start."
Just Solitaire: Klondike allows players to tap and drag cards, tap twice to move cards, or double-tap to move cards. These options are rarely seen in iPhone card games and make this one stand out for ease-of-use. The playing cards themselves were designed for the iPhone screen, and the iPhone 4's retina display in particular. The game can be played in either vertical or horizontal orientation.
"This is only the first in a series of free solitaire games based on the Just Solitaire code base," said Rosenzweig. "We'll have other variations out soon, and they will all be free to download."
Klondike, like the Just Solitaire site, is supported by in-game advertising and can be played for free. Just Solitaire features more than 35 solitaire variations, such as Spider, Pyramid, Forty Thieves, Russian and Canfield. These can be played on the iPhone and iPod Touch today by visiting the site with the built-in Safari web browser.
