[prMac.com] Boston, Massachusetts - Online video collaboration and content management platform, MediaSilo, announces the release of ExpressBox, a service that offers accelerated point to point file transfers and eliminates expensive overnight video deliveries.
"The reality of video production is that footage moves all the time, often in its original form, to post-houses, studios, visual effects companies and TV stations," said Kai Pradel, MediaSilo's CTO. "Our users have told us that existing solutions for delivering production assets are often cost prohibitive. Starting today, MediaSilo is offering a cost effective alternative to expensive client/server software or overnight courier."
MediaSilo's ExpressBox removes file size limitations, allowing for transfers of up to 250 GB a file, anywhere in the world. Current options for distributing large files include FTP which is often limited to 2 GB or expensive proprietary networks. MediaSilo's ExpressBox uses a UDP based file transfer protocol that performs better on large files over greater distances. An integrity check is performed upon completion, and the sender will receive a delivery confirmation.
ExpressBox is currently in beta, and for the month of November, will be available as a complimentary feature to all current paying MediaSilo subscribers. Beginning in December, occasional ExpressBox users can choose an on-demand option and pay per GB of data delivered, or pay a monthly fee to reduce the per GB charge if use is more frequent. A flexible payment option allows clients to use ExpressBox as it best suits their needs, and assures them they are only paying for what they use.
"Delivering a DVD from East to West Coast with MediaSilo's ExpressBox is not only faster, but also cheaper than your standard FedEx overnight. Unlike couriers, ExpressBox doesn't charge for files that were sent, but never downloaded," said Pradel.
