[prMac.com] Thornton, Colorado - Talking Flashcards and Study Fly Apps provide students an alternative way to learn by using read aloud cards that can be scrolled through automatically or independently. Eliminating the need to create flashcards from scratch, Talking Flashcards and Study Fly save time for students, foreign language learners, special educators, and parents by searching Quizlet, host of over 4 million premade flashcard sets, and importing decks in less than 22 seconds. Talking Flashcards and Study Fly are available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch through the iTunes App store from $2.99-$3.99. Talking Flashcards and Study Fly were created by theraTech Solutions, LLC, which was founded by a speech language pathologist with over 10 years of experience.
Origin of Conception:
Talking Flashcards and Study Fly Apps, for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, was co-created by a speech language pathologist and assistive technology specialist who works with special needs students. Brian Simms, MA CCC-SLP states, "Since the advent of the iPad a whole new world of possibilities has opened for my clients, their teachers, and their parents. The technology enables us to solve a common problem for many students - how to quickly learn academic material."
How it Works:
The Talking Flashcards and Study Fly apps use high quality voices chosen by the student to read aloud in one of two modes: "Study" allows the student to learn at their own pace, while "Play" scrolls through the deck and reads aloud the front and back of each card allowing the student to study on the go. Current voices are English and Spanish, but more languages will be available in the near future.
Talking Flashcards allows students to learn three types of academic concepts - vocabulary, spelling, and math - through three different deck types. "Standard" promotes vocabulary acquisition, "Spelling" spells the word letter-by-letter, and "Math" practices different math concepts. The Study Fly Apps allow foreign language learners to increase vocabulary skills by taking advantage of the foreign language decks available on Quizlet and speaking them in their native language.
Decks can be easily shared through e-mail, allowing usage on multiple devices and strengthening learning connections between home and school and between professionals and parents.
Customization Ensures Optimal Learning:
To ensure optimal presentation for students with varying abilities, the student can import images, change card colors, and manipulate font sizes. The "Lock Editing" feature in Talking Flashcards restricts a student's ability to change the card content, ensuring focus on the academic material and the Auto Math function automatically generates a deck of math expressions based on the user's preferences.
