[prMac.com] Berkeley, California - VelaClock 1.0 is a fully featured world clock with detailed sun/moon info. It introduces a new user interface with significantly more features versus the original VelaClock, now named VelaClock Classic (VelaClock1 in App Store). VelaClock is invaluable to users who travel or communicate with friends and colleagues around the world. Its feature set makes it especially popular among photographers. "VelaClock is a must have application for any photographer with an iPhone," said Martin Bailey, a Tokyo based nature and wildlife photographer.
VelaClock users can quickly display the time of sunrise, sunset and three kinds of twilight (civil, nautical, astronomical), moon phase and tilt, position of sun and moon, and daylight duration. The user can also set the time and date for any time in the past and future. This is useful for planning travel, outdoor activities and photo shoots. VelaClock's custom time/date controls allow the time and date to be quickly changed. Meetings between cities with different time zones can easily be coordinated by sending an email which will announce the specific local time/date for the meeting for all cities.
VelaClock's opening screen consists of a scrollable list of basic information about user-selected cities. For each city there's a horizontal "light bar" which visually depicts the current 24 hours of light: daylight, three kinds of twilight, and night. A thin white bar shows when the moon is visible. The scrollable list of city rows, each with a light bar, allows for easy visual comparison of what the day will be like in the cities the user is tracking. Tapping on a city's row brings up one of four full screen detail views. These detail views contain specific information about the selected city including:
* Time of sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, and three kinds of twilight
* Countdown (or time passed) in hours and minutes for sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset
* Daylight duration in hours and minutes. Change in minutes of daylight from the previous day
* Current position of the sun and moon, specified by azimuth and altitude
* Solstice and equinox dates and Daylight Saving Time transition dates
* A high quality photographic image of moon that accurately depicts the moon's phase and tilt
* Dates, times and images of the next four moon phases
Up to 50 cities may be added from a selection of over 500 built-in cities, the current location, or custom locations (by specifying country, time zone and latitude/longitude point).
