[prMac.com] Los Angeles, California - Announcing that. 1Tucan, the developers of Mario Ducks, has released a nostalgia product for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. Users who loved playing Nintendo's Duck Hunt will recognize the classic fun and challenge presented in Mario Ducks. This app uses the same play concept but in a more modern format. Mario Ducks has better, more modern graphics and the ever snickering dog in Duck Hunt has been replaced with a funny, mocking monkey. Something else new in Mario Ducks is the global leaderboard, where players can vie for ranking.
Mario Ducks will immediately bring back nice memories for those who played Nintendo's Duck Hunt back in the 80's. Players sat in front of their television set, waited for the ducks to take flight from the bushes then pointed a plastic gun at the screen. If the player shot straight and with enough speed to hit the duck, a funny dog would pop out of the bushes holding a sign saying something nice. However, if it was a bad shot and the duck got away, that canine would laugh at the player's misfortune.
It was all good, addictive fun but those days are long gone and few people still use an old Nintendo for gaming. Thanks to the new Mario Ducks application, users are able to play that classic game again and having a game box isn't even necessary anymore.
The Mario Ducks app has taken all the best attributes of Duck Hunt and modernized them to work on today's iDevices. Players are still able to choose between one and two duck games but now, instead of using a plastic gun, an index finger is a weapon. Users just try tapping directly on a duck to shoot it.
While the original dog was a source of amusement itself, it has been replaced in Mario Ducks with a funny monkey that mocks players when they make a bad shot and makes sounds of congratulations when a game goes well.
These are some of the fun features offered in Mario Ducks:
* Smooth navigation, easy to use
* Shoot the ducks, a finger is the gun
* Incredible modern graphics
* Mocking monkey instead of a snickering dog
* International leaderboard for comparing scores
* Same fun and challenge of the classic Duck Hunt game
* Gives a nice feeling of nostalgia
Since Duck Hunt existed prior to home internet service, there was no way of knowing how a player did in comparison to others unless they asked someone. Nowadays, that's not a problem. Mario Ducks has a global leaderboard that shows the top scorers from around the world. It's easy for players to compete internationally for top positioning and to figure out just how rusty their duck shooting skills are.
* iPhone, iPod touch and iPad
* Requires iOS 3.0 or later
* 5.8 MB
