Lagente Releases Scenario 1.5 for Mac - Event-based AppleScript launcher

in Utility (E)

[] Montreal, Canada - Lagente Software today is pleased to announce version 1.5 of Scenario, a tool for non-experienced or experienced AppleScripters alike, which enables users to automatically launch AppleScripts when specific events occur. Currently, the list of events is the following: Logging-in, Logging out, Waking from Sleep, Going to sleep, becoming idle or active again and pressing a user-defined key combination. Scenario is available on the Mac App Store for $4.99 US.

Many users like to personalize their environment, and we developed Scenario to help them, says Marcie Lewis, PR representative for Lagente. Since Scenario launches scripts based on the very elegant AppleScript language, it can talk to and automate many applications and system components easily. Scenario acts like a kind of glue to enable these users to launch scripts when specific events occur. For example, a user could run a script to change their iChat status automatically to reflect their location when the wake their MacBook from sleep.

Scenario works by running scripts placed in specific folders on the user's Library folder. Many sample and test scripts are provided as well as an extensive programming guide to help programmers tailor their AppleScript's to better function in the context of Scenario.

Scenario is being used in kiosks to return the web browser to the home page after after a period of inactivity, or display a welcome message when a user moves the mouse after an extended period. When used with the right scripts, it can clean up a machine once it is no longer being used or when a user logs out. Uses for Scenario are limitless and as it runs as a Menu Item (which can be disabled), it can run without interfering with the user experience.
