[prMac.com] Nederland, Colorado - James Associates Inc. announced an update to their popular iOS app, iHikeGPS. iHikeGPS 2.3 is the only App for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch which includes access to both the USGS 24K topo maps and the US Forest Service 24K topo maps. iHikeGPS turns your iOS device into a high-performance GPS receiver with waypoints, tracks, GPX import and export, and automatic map positioning. It does all this in the wilderness with no cell or WiFi signals, using high-resolution maps you have previously downloaded.
New in Version 2.3:
* Import GPX and LOC waypoints via email or iTunes File Sharing.
* Export GPX waypoints and tracks by iTunes File Sharing or email.
* Use UTM coordinates.
iHikeGPS gives you the option to record a track of your travels in the background even when you are using another app or the device is asleep.
"Go To" guidance show the distance, bearing, course, compass heading and estimated time of arrival. Automatically switches to rapid updating as you get close to a "Go To" waypoint. Perfect as you zero-in on a geocache. Forever-free maps for the entire country are available from our dedicated server anytime you have an internet connection. Enter and display location coordinates in Degrees, Degrees/Minutes, Degrees/Minutes/Seconds, or UTM.
