Local Tween Designs App for iPhone & Raises Money to Fight Breast Cancer

[prMac.com] Fort Wayne, Indiana - Giggle World Productions, LLC today announced the recent update of Giggle Bear for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Brooklyn is a 12-year old entrepreneur. She is more than your typical 12-year old who takes dance lessons, plays tennis and argues with her twin brother. Her idea created a business.

While downloading games with her friends on her father's iPhone, she found most were rather boring. So accepting her Dad's challenge to design her own game, Giggle World Productions, LLC was born. Brooklyn thought it would be fun to draw her own animal friend and play with it online. More and more details emerged as she tested her ideas on her friends.

"I want my children to know they can do anything they want," said Geoffrey, Brooklyn's father and local physician. Impressed with the direction and detail of her app, he and his wife Marsha, decided to market Brooklyn's dream. But, who could make the dream a reality? After doing their research, they found Agile Poet, an interactive developer based in Austin, TX. The game went into development in September of last year. Both Brooklyn and her brother, Geoffrey, Jr., attend business meetings and continue to contribute. When asked what the most surprising thing was about starting a business, Brooklyn replied, "I have a lawyer. It's kind of cool."

Just as the app was launched, Marsha discovered she had breast cancer, so the family decided that part of the proceeds should go to support breast cancer research. "I have been moved by the outpouring of support I have received, even from strangers, and I want to give back," said Marsha. Although she is still undergoing treatment, the family has continued the business and is in the planning stage for the next game, a music app designed by Brooklyn's twin brother.

The family understands the risks involved in starting this kind of business. "I'm the Nervous Nelly," says Marsha, but it's fun to watch Brooklyn take initiative and do something. My husband is more of the risk-taker, but my father died in 2009 and it made me realize you've got to live life and do things now. This isn't cheap but this is something that will teach the kids life lessons."

The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer(R) will receive a total of $50,000 once the app reaches 500,000 downloads. With every paid download, Giggle World will donate money to support breast cancer research. Giggle Bear is available on iTunes now for only $1.99 (USD) and includes the Giggle World animal creation activity and four different games to play.
