[prMac.com] Canadian based - Basement143 Apps is pleased to announce the release of Amazing 2.0. This app will be used for putting together a compilation e-album to be sold on iTunes in the fall of 2011. We are putting together a compilation album to be sold on iTunes to benefit the Canadian Cancer Society. We're working with our local branch, and the Senior Coordinator of Corporate Development in the CCS Ontario Division in Toronto.
To date we have over 60 bands that have sent us or agreed to send us songs for the AMAZING compilation e-album to be released on iTunes this fall, including some internationally known artists such as Dan Hill, who has been in the charts for many years, but perhaps his best known hit was "Sometimes When We Touch". Colm Wilkinson has been thrilling audiences in London, New York, Toronto and beyond with lead roles in classics such as Phantom Of The Opera and Les Miserables. Sunny Choi was just listed by Billboard magazine as #12 in their "Next Big Sound" charts. Rita Chiarelli is Canada's most highly acclaimed female roots and blues artist. Bob Egan of Blue Rodeo fame, has carved out his own niche with his powerful solo recordings. Leah West is currently #2 on the Reverbnation Canadian Pop Charts and #136 in the world (out of Reverbnation's 1.4 million artists). Dream Aria are one of the top bands on MySpace today - #1 on the progressive global overall MySpace charts. Our list of well known or soon to be well known artists is growing daily. We've just received two tracks from the
We are asking artists from all around the world to contribute. Any song sent in does have to be an original, rather than cover versions to avoid licensing fees. We have distribution arranged with CDBaby who will release it on behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society on iTunes. We hope to be able to sell the album without the possibility of purchasing single tracks, but are not sure this is feasible as yet. This would be so that anyone buying the album would have to buy it as a complete album, and would therefore be introduced to other types of music. I am hoping this may widen their appreciation of music in all forms, and open them up to new bands/artists they might otherwise have never heard. We understand that the album can have up to 200 tracks on it, and intend to sell it for $10, so it will be tremendous value.
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year. I had no symptoms, but my wife wanted me to get my PSA tested. Luckily, it was discovered early enough and my specialist told me that after a radical prostatectomy I am now cured. I want to give something back and as a musician, this seemed to be the best way. I also want to raise awareness of the PSA blood test that can detect this kind of cancer - getting my PSA test quite literally saved my life. The album will be available from Fall 2011. 100% of the money received will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society for research and prostate cancer awareness/BlueWater Health for their new cancer treatment center.
