[prMac.com] Los Angeles, California - Getting up in the morning is getting more fun as Enjoyable Apps releases its Dolphin Alarm Clock app for the iPad this month, with part of its proceeds going to help save dolphins.
"When I saw the slaughter of dolphins in Japan in the documentary film "The Cove," I felt I needed to do something to help stop that," said Enjoyable Apps founder Mark Linthicum. "That's when I realized creating an alarm clock app that would have dolphins swimming around and waking you up would be the best way we could help, with part of the proceeds going to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and its efforts to save Dolphins."
Himself a veteran filmmaker, software designer and environmental activist, Linthicum shot footage of dolphins off Grand Bahama island in the Bahamas and with ground breaking technology, he developed a seamless view of dolphins swimming and at play for this innovative creation.
The all-new app features the dolphins Rosca and Bacall, from his film "Beneath the Blue," as they swim and play before coming up to the camera to awaken the user with their customary dolphin call. The two dolphins were shot live in the ocean to create a vibrant and mesmerizing view of the creatures in their true environment.
With an easy-to-use interface, the app allows users to set the alarm as well as set the alarm tone from 29 different sounds including chimes, electric blues, flutes, tunes like the Crepe Suzette and many others. Users may also add their own selections of favorite music with ease.
Other features include a 12-hour or 24-hour mode as well as a snooze mode button with a selector button, allowing the user to choose how long the snooze mode will last. A location button also allows the clock to dim according to the time the sun rises and sets at a particular location.
"As a lover of animals, especially dolphins, I encourage everyone to give to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and other organizations that are helping save dolphins and our oceans at a time when so many of our animals and our environment are under so much threat," Linthicum said. "This app is but one way to help out and raise awareness of the danger to dolphins and other animals, so please visit our Web site and those of our environmentalist friends who are in the front lines in the battle to save dolphins."
Enjoyable Apps has also released the interactive Playing with Dolphins app for the iPhone, which gives users a chance to play and interact with dolphins under water by simply tapping the screen and guiding them along with the touch of a finger.
