New iPhone App Makes Anyone an Instant Celebrity

August 9, 2011 in Entertainment (E)

[] Jacksonville, Florida - A new mobile app called "Fan Mail" turns anyone who downloads it into an instant celebrity complete with legions of adoring fans.

"Movie Stars, Pop Stars, TV Stars, and Athletes get tons of fan mail everyday," explains Mark Kaye, a radio host and the developer of "Fan Mail." "Wouldn't it be great if teachers, doctors, volunteers, and everyone else got fan mail too? Well, now they can!"

Kaye got the idea from a personal fan letter he received. "A twelve-year old boy sent an email telling me how much he enjoyed my morning radio show. He said, because of me, he wanted to be on the radio when he grew up. It made me realize how lucky I am to be in a position to receive encouragement from people who appreciate what I do."

The "Fan Mail" app delivers daily fan letters to each user. When a user downloads the app they insert their name and occupation into a start-up screen and almost instantly begin to receive fan mail. All letters are personalized with the user's name and occupation. Some ask for autographs or pictures. Some want to know about starting a fan club. Others remark at how inspirational the user is. A typical letter reads:

"I am your BIGGEST fan! Just want to send you a note to you know that YOU ROCK!" I hope one day I can be as cool as you are. Keep up the great work!"

"Fan Mail" lets users experience fame the same way celebrities do, by receiving words of praise from complete strangers. "I want everyone to experience the thrill of being a celebrity," says Kaye. After all, everyone is a star, and every star deserves a little fan mail."
