[prMac.com] Manchester, United Kingdom - A curious thing happened on Apple's iTunes App Store this weekend. In one tiny corner of the App Store - the UK Puzzle "What's Hot" category - for a brief, twinkling moment in time, a game other than Angry Birds appeared at the top of a chart.
A million puzzled App Store customers gazed in wonder at an icon that didn't feature a round, red, beaked blob, and a thousand delighted iOS game developers cheered that the upset avians' seemingly endless monopoly on the top slots was finally starting to slip. Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint, the critically acclaimed iOS game by veteran bearded game designers The Pickford Bros, was officially hotter than Angry Birds!
"Now we're officially hotter than Angry Birds, we're not daft enough to think this means we're worth more than Rovio's proposed $1.2b valuation," explained game designer John Pickford, "that would stupid. We're happy to settle for just half a billion dollars as a fair valuation of The Pickford Bros. Cash, of course," he accounced.
"Although not just anyone can buy their way onto the board of The Pickford Bros," added co-designer Ste Pickford, "it's an exclusive club that requires every member to possess a full beard, no matter much money they throw our way. Male and female investors are welcome to apply," he concluded.
Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint is available as a universal app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch devices via a single download, and supports full HD graphics on retina displays and iPads. The game has received over 70 glowing reviews and over 100 5-star ratings on the UK App Store in just a few weeks since release, which is unprecedented for a new, previously unknown IP in such a short space of time.
