[prMac.com] Arlington, Texas - Dreamseeker Productions today is pleased to introduce Race Pacer 1.0 for iOS, their new Sports training app that lets runners input Distance and Time to calculate Pace. Race Pacer also allows the user to enter any two of the following three variables to calculate the third: Time, Distance, and Pace. In addition, if the Pace and Distance input represents a runner's best effort, the app can calculate Training Paces, predict Race Performance, and estimate VO2 Max. Based on internal algorithms, the app helps facilitate safe and effective training for runners who train an average of three times per week by calculating pre-run training pace targets and post-run performance results.
Using the estimated VO2 Max, Race Pacer is able to determine Training Paces for various types of workouts: Long Runs, Easy, Marathon, Lactate Threshold, VO2 Max, and Speedwork. Knowing the right Training Pace is critical to ensure that the runner is not overtraining, which could lead to injury.
Race Pacer also supports Race Prediction. Assuming that the Calculated Pace and Distance represent a recent best effort run, Race Pacer uses a highly accurate formula to predict how the runner would likely perform at other distances, including: 1 mile, 3 miles, 5K, 4 miles, 8K, 5 miles, 10K, 10 miles, 20K, Half Marathon, 15 miles, 25K, 20 miles, and Marathon (26.2 miles). Both predicted pace and finish time are provided.
At launch in portrait orientation, the app displays an input window with three categories: Distance, Time, and Pace. Distance is selected from a scrolling list of 14 different races from 1 mile to Marathon. Time is dialed in using the Apple TimePicker, with wheels for hours, minutes, and seconds. Pace is also dialed in with available choices between 4 minutes, 0 seconds and 25 minutes, 59 seconds. With any two measures input, the user can touch a button to have a value for the third automatically entered in the window.
The bottom third of the screen displays the calculated V02 Max (maximum volume of oxygen usable by the runner), and from it derives Race Predictions and Training Paces. Finally, the bottom tab bar allows the user to move from Calculate mode to History mode, where all Distance / Pace / Time calculations are stored.
