[prMac.com] Rochester, New York - At 16, wiz kid Ryan Schnaufer can't drive a car alone but he hopes to drive sales of his new iPhone app, Quiz Kid. While there are plenty of Flash Card apps on the Apple App Store, Quiz Kid was designed from the ground up to be extremely customizable.
Quiz builders can choose fonts, font sizes, and colors for the questions and answers and even select traditional Flash Card "Flip for answer" style, Written Answer, or Multiple Choice formats.
Another major differentiator for Quiz Kid is that questions can be spoken out loud, so the answer isn't obvious (think of a spelling bee... written questions would be pointless.) The app lets you record the question using your voice or use built-in Text-To-Speech! This really shows the advantage of using an app for Flash Cards versus traditional index cards.
The best apps are the ones that the developer designs for themselves, to solve a particular need. They know what will make it a good app because they need the app to solve their own problem. Ryan saw the need for a quality Flash Card app that could let teachers and students create quizzes easily, with audio, and switch between Multiple Choice, Written Answer and traditional Flash Card styles on-the-fly.
"The idea for this company and app came to me while I was sitting in my school library, studying for an upcoming test." said Ryan Schnaufer, owner of The Schnauf House. "I took out my Ipod and searched the App Store for a flash card app that I could use to study. The only things that came up in the search were apps that only gave me pre-made flash cards. I needed something else, and that got me thinking. For the last six months I have been dedicated to this project."
Another sign of Ryan's appeal to kids his own age is that recent scores are logged, similar to an arcade video game so users are motivated to do better. At just $0.99, Ryan priced Quiz Kid to keep the app budget-friendly for today's kids. Quiz Kid is sure to help other kids become Wiz Kids in no time.
