[prMac.com] Oakland, California - Beezwax and FM::Nexus released Inspector Pro 3.1, an update to the leading tool for analyzing FileMaker database systems. Now, for the first time, developers can use interactive data visualization to gain insight into their FileMaker Pro solutions. Inspector Pro 3.1's new Script Universe and Script & Calculation Trees (currently Mac-only) provide unique, interactive views of database elements. New Security Perspective reports make it easier for developers to analyze database security.
"We are excited to introduce data visualization in Inspector Pro 3.1 as a way for FileMaker developers to interactively analyze their FileMaker database designs," said Vincenzo Menanno, founder of FM:Nexus and Director of FileMaker Development for Beezwax. "Seeing database schema visualized graphically can help you gain knowledge of a complex system that you can't get otherwise. Viewing database security in a single location provides the same benefit - helping developers see the big picture."
Inspector Pro 3.1 introduces the following features for FileMaker database analysis:
* Script Universe (currently Mac-only) - A visual representation of scripts in an interactive, multi-node graph.
* Scripts & Calculation Trees (currently Mac-only) - Interactive views of dependencies, expanding or collapsing in an interactive tree view.
* Security Perspective - New matrix-style reports show accounts and access privileges across database elements, including basetables, fields, layouts, scripts, and value lists.
Note: Script Universe and Scripts & Calculation Trees features require Inspector Pro 3.1 running on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or OS X 10.7 Lion.
Inspector Pro 3.1 also offers new database analysis reports for duplicate elements, unstored calculations and summary fields, and provides various fixes to address known issues.
About Inspector Pro 3:
Inspector Pro 3 is the leading tool for diagnosing, debugging and documenting FileMaker databases. Inspector Pro works quickly to identify hard-to-find issues, compare database versions for changes, and identify all dependencies, unreferenced items and uses of any element in a solution. Inspector Pro 3 works by using a FileMaker Database Design Report (DDR) to generate a list of database problems that need addressing. Inspector Pro proactively provides suggestions for developers to fix the generated list of database issues.
FM::Nexus is committed to helping FileMaker developers build better solutions, and enabling businesses and organizations to stay focused on what they do best. FM::Nexus develops a line of software products including Inspector Pro.
Compatibility and System Requirements:
Inspector Pro 3.1 is available for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and OS X 10.7 Lion or Windows XP/Vista/7, and works with FileMaker database versions 11, 10, 9, or 8. FileMaker Pro Advanced is required for a developer to generate a DDR (Database Design Report) to be used for database analysis.
Pricing and Availability:
Inspector Pro 3 is priced at $495 (USD) for new customers, and is available for purchase and download through Beezwax Datatools. A full-feature trial download is available. Current Inspector Pro 3.0 customers can download the v3.1 update for free via Beezwax Datatools.
