[prMac.com] Powell, Ohio - Building on the success of 2010, Light Year Software is pleased to announce the availability of the 2011 update to Christmas Lights Finder, an iOS exclusive app for finding great Christmas light displays. This year's update features a brand new visual design and additional information on the more than 1,750 displays in the directory.
The displays in the directory come from Internet and newspaper research as well as crowdsourcing locations from last year's users. The directory contains over 1,750 locations throughout the continental United States. In addition to the new visual design, more information is tracked for displays this year. If a display includes moving lights or motorized pieces, synchronized music or requires an entrance fee, it is shown on the detail screen below a photo preview. Homeowners can customize their listing to include additional information about viewing hours and a video link, both of which are available to users without leaving the app.
"Driving the kids around to look at lights is something my family looks forward to each year, and with this app we know we won't be disappointed," says Steve Madsen, Light Year Software's president and lead developer.
App users can improve the experience for each other by rating the displays they visit and contributing photos. Adding new lights is a simple process that uses the device's GPS to pinpoint a location. A new listing can be added to the directory on-the-go in seconds, with as few as two taps.
