[prMac.com] Silver Spring, Maryland - PicPocket Books has teamed up with Australian children's author Nina Lim to offer Super Harry's Rotten Luck as an interactive mobile picture book app. Super Harry features cute, animated cartoon-like illustrations and a lively narration by voice over artist Kelley Brennan. This app provides young children an engaging, interactive lesson on how your attitude and actions can influence your luck, how you meet the world, and how the world meets you.
PicPocket Books and author Nina Lim are excited to announce a new digital picture book title Super Harry's Rotten Luck for iOS. Motivated to reach a generation of children, this app provides young children an engaging, interactive lesson on how your attitude and actions can influence your luck, how you meet the world, and how the world meets you.
Nina Lim describes the main character of the story, "Super Harry is a loveable anti-hero whose adventures help young kids to learn that their actions have consequences. It is also incredibly motivating and inspiring as kids realise the very real benefits that come from helping others and doing the right thing." The tone of the story is fun and appealing and will have young children squealing with laughter (Spoiler alert: bird poo makes an appearance in this app).
There are also hidden surprises and interactive elements to delight curious fingers and inquisitive minds. The word highlighting and superb narration make it a beautiful and educational reading experience.
Nina Lim was inspired to create the storybook app by her middle child who has a language delay. She noticed how enthusiastic he was to learn on the iPad and that storybook apps were a brilliant way to spark language and learn new words, while at the same time having loads of fun. According to Nina, "It is a win-win situation. Mums get the relief of knowing their kids are having positive and educational screen time, and kids get to have fun and learn at the same time."

Based in Silver Spring, Maryland, PicPocket Books was founded in the spring of 2009 by the husband and wife team of Lynette and Manuel Mattke, who share a passion for children's literature and technological innovation. To download any of the PicPocket Books apps, please visit the iTunes App Store and search for 'PicPocket Books.' PicPocket Books offer parents and their kids an alternative to flashy, and sometimes violent, fast-paced video games. Their book apps have some simple animations and/or interactive hot spots to encourage exploration and engagement. Overall, they strive to remain quite faithful to the original books with their apps and want to be careful not to obscure the reading experience with too much interactivity. They champion books and reading aloud to kids, and see bookapps as supplements, not replacements, for print books and the valuable time parents can spend reading with their kids. If having kids' books available on mobile devices means more exposure to stories and enthusiasm for reading for kids, then that is a success!
