(Oakville, Ontario, CANADA) - Lucerne Systems announces the immediate availability of Horizon Version 1.1, a unique calendar-based personal financial management system. A patent has been applied for the concept of Horizon because it is so novel. Horizon's calendar-based interface, coupled with a powerful calculation engine, lets you get a clear, simple picture of where your money comes from and where it goes. Horizon has been designed exclusively for Mac OS X, and uses many features unique to OS X 10.4 (Tiger).
"When we looked at existing personal finance systems, we felt that a new approach was needed.", says Iain Delaney, President of Lucerne Systems. "Horizon is based on the concept of using a calendar interface to the data, a concept so unique that we've applied for a patent."
Horizon lets you organize your different incomes and expenses into categories, and then quickly set up repeating values in those categories. Horizon can repeat values daily, on weekdays, weekly, biweekly, and monthly. You can then add, subtract, total and compare values to get a better picture of your financial situation.
Horizon uses a exclusive referencing system to include values from other dates in equations or expressions simply by clicking on them. Relative references, such as 'yesterday', 'last week', two weeks ago' and 'last month' are also available in this unique system.
Horizon uses familiar Mac UI elements, such as drag-and-drop to move or copy values, context sensitive menus, help in the form of an Apple Help book, and a toolbar for commonly used functions.
Horizon stands as an alternative to check-book register-based systems and spreadsheets for people who want a simple, free-form way to budget and plan their finances.
More details, including video screencasts demonstrating Horizon's features, are available at the company web site.
New features in Version 1.1:
-Toolbar added! Toolbar buttons to add cell, edit cell, delete cell, cancel edit, get category properties, and print.
-Single click to select a date, selecting a different category changes the selected date to that category.
-Calendar navigation now located on either side of the current month and year, simplifying navigation.
Horizon is available for immediate download as a 30-day trial version, and a single-user license costs only $29.95 US.
