Wisekopf introduces iBeThere for iPhone: Where Will You Be?

in Social Networking (E)

[prMac.com] Copenhagen, Denmark - Wisekopf has released iBeThere, a location-based iPhone app that helps friends let each other know when they leave, when they arrive and where they are in-between. Current location sharing apps work primarily when the user is already at his destination, "checking in" to tell his friends and followers where he is right now, or letting them see his location only in a time limited window. iBeThere is richer: it's all about the journey.

"We're all going somewhere, right?" says Mads Foli, founder of iBeThere. "iBeThere lets your friends know that you're on your way, and when you are about to arrive. You'll be surprised how these two pieces of information helps the communication flow with people you care about."

This "communication flow" is improved even further by iBeThere's group chat function. If one friend comments on a trip, the message is sent to all the friends that have been notified of the trip, making coordination a breeze.

"I created iBeThere first and foremost for myself," Mads says. "I wanted a way to easily let friends and family know when they can expect my arrival. With iBeThere, my friends get notified when I leave, they can see my whereabouts while I'm on my way and they can easily estimate when I will be at my destination."

Built with simplicity, ease of use and privacy controls as the core building blocks, iBeThere affords users complete control over who can see their location. iBeThere even senses when the user is about to arrive at his destination, dispatches a notification to the selected friends and turns off GPS usage to minimize battery drain.

Signup is a one-tap experience with Facebook. One of the benefits of using Facebook is that users can share trips with every one of their Facebook friends, who can follow along with iBeThere's HTML-based Facebook app. This puts iBeThere at the fingertips of all of Facebook's 845 million users, not only users with an iPhone.
