February 12, 2009 in Software (F)

[] Milan, Italy - Tension Software announces the new release 1.3 of DMG Master. DMG Master is a simple to use Cocoa application to create .dmg archives which are recognized and automatically managed on any Macintosh with Mac OS X without the need of additional software, just clicking them. This make the .dmg archive a universal format for any Apple user.

DMG Master is a document based application and allows to save in a document all the data to create a specified .dmg archive. This allows the user to manage different documents each associated to a different .dmg archive to create, and reopening this document at later time to use it. The user can update the .dmg images with updated data inside with a single click without having to specify any time what to archive, how and where.

The application accepts drag and drop to specify different files and folders to be used as source and let the user specify different levels of compression to use for archive creation and also allows to specify a password to use to protect the archive, after that, the archive to be mounted and used will require the correct password If the user likes it, the application allows to save the password to encrypt the archive inside the document. In that way anytime a archive will be created with the updated source files, it will be automatically encrypted with the password specified at the document creation time. For security reasons the application saves the password only inside the document.

DMG Master allows to specify the name of the archive to create in a way that the name will contains creation date or other variable parameters, useful to make backup of data in compressed archive and send them to a remote server. Format of .dmg archives are ideal to be transferred via the network for all the purposes.

This new release addition: Option to save temporary files used to construct the images in a different directory then the destination one. After creating the final archive they are deleted by the application itself. This option is specially useful to save backup archives on remote mounted networked file system.
