[prMac.com] Amsterdam, The Netherlands - Mekentosj BV and Hammink Design BNO today announced that Infomaps Amsterdam for iPhone and iPod touch has become available on the iPhone App store, a practical and beautifully designed tourist and public transport guide for Amsterdam.
Infomaps Amsterdam is a tourist guide and public transport directory for Amsterdam. This iPhone App contains information about the various attractions and hotspots in Amsterdam and vicinity. What makes this application so special is that all hotspots are coupled to tram, metro and train destinations. This allows you to find your way to any attraction in no time, without the need for an internet connection. Infomaps Amsterdam tells you which line to take and at which stop or station to exit. Perfect for tourists who are new to this beautiful city.
But even for seasoned travelers within Amsterdam this iPhone app is a dream come through. Beautifully designed custom maps give you an overview of all tram and metro lines, tell you where to jump from one line to the other, and show you all the stops and stations you will cross along the way. And if you have an iPhone 3G, the built-in GPS will tell you immediately where you are and which tram or metro line is closest to you.
Infomaps Amsterdam consists of four categories:
* Hotspots (100 tourist attractions and hotspots)
* Tram (all tram lines of Amsterdam)
* Metro (the metro system of Amsterdam)
* Railway (the main rail connections in The Netherlands from Amsterdam Central Station)
We specifically designed a set of custom maps for Infomaps Amsterdam. They all have the Amsterdam Central Station at its center, a perfect reference point. The map Tram not only contains an overview of all lines, but can also show you each of the 16 tram lines separately. In addition the maps contain a Locate-me function that lights up the closest stop from your current location.
The program contains all information it needs. You do not need an active 3G or WiFi connection to use the application, this is important if you are a tourist and don't want to come home with an expensive roaming bill. Only when you would like to get further information from Google Maps or Mobile Safari you will need an internet connection.
